Michele Fletcher grew up in the Bull Run Mountains of Northern Virginia and got her first camera on her 10th birthday. She is now a Rockbridge County, VA., resident. A certified Landscape Designer and an avid photographer, she loves to capture perfect moments in time with her cameras. She carries one everywhere in hopes of capturing the perfect image. She focuses on the beauty of our world and informed by her career as a Landscape Designer, she uses the same artistic and compositional skills to choose and frame her shots. Many of her photos are landscapes which she hopes will transport viewers to a different moment or emotion. While she most often enjoys finding art in the landscape she is passionate about photographing anything that strikes her as intriguing, whether it is a flower, person, building, critter or sometimes just to document an experience for friends and community groups. She has volunteered many photos for non-profit organizations.
A member of the Rockbridge Camera Club, Rockbridge Art Guild and Charlottesville Camera Club she recommends them each for the camaraderie, mentoring and development of technical and visual skills and for friends that they have provided. She has taken classes in photography at Northern Virginia Community College and attended many workshops and lectures.
She has received awards for her images since 2009 and her work has been juried into many regional and national shows. She won grand prize in the 2014 “Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay” Watershed photo contest for Falling Springs Fairyland and in 2016 received an Honorable Mention for another image. Recently her photos were juried into the Olin Hall Gallery Biennial Juried show for 2017 at Roanoke College and accepted into 2017 VMRC Juried Art exhibition, Park Gables Gallery, Harrisonburg, VA and Art Speaks on the Bay Show, Mathews, VA. Her images have also been used by the local tourism group in their marketing. Balloon over Lexington was featured in recent brochures. She had a solo exhibition at the Staunton Augusta Art Gallery this spring and this autumn was accepted as a member of the CoArt Gallery in Staunton, Virginia .
