Michele Fletcher
Photographer

Michele Fletcher grew up in the Bull Run Mountains of Northern Virginia and got her first camera on her 10th birthday. She and her husband, Richard, were Rockbridge County, VA., residents for 24 years before recently moving to Gloucester county. A certified Landscape Designer and avid photographer, she reminds the viewer of the beauty around them that is sometimes forgotten or passed by unobserved. She focuses on the beauty of our world, and informed by her career as a Landscape Designer, she uses the same artistic and compositional skills to choose and frame her shots. While she most often enjoys finding art in the landscape, she is passionate about photographing anything that strikes her as intriguing, whether it is a flower, tree, person, building, critter or sometimes just to document an experience for friends and community groups. She volunteers time and photography to non-profit organizations.

As a member of the Rockbridge Camera Club, Rockbridge Art Guild and Charlottesville Camera Club and CoArt Gallery she recommended them each for the camaraderie, mentoring and development of technical and visual skills and for friends that they have provided. She has taken classes in photography at Northern Virginia Community College and attended many workshops and lectures.

She has received awards for her images since she started showing her art in 2009 and her images have been juried into many regional and national shows, among them: The American Landscape Show, VMRC Juried Art exhibition(s), Olin Hall Gallery Biennial, Carnegie Hall National juried Show, Bower Center National Juried Exhibition(s), Academy of the Arts National Juried Photography Exhibition, Art Speaks on the Bay National juried Exhibition(s) and New River Art Biennial. She has had solo shows at Staunton Augusta Art Gallery and at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, WV. In 2019 she and painter, Tammy Hinkle, had a collaborative show, Two Artists – One View at Cabell Gallery of Virginia Art, in Lexington, VA. Also in 2019 two of her images were accepted into the biennial Carnegie Hall, WV Juried Exhibition; “Off the Beaten Track”.  In 2020, her photographs were accepted into three juried exhibitions she received Best in Show in the 2020 Art Speaks.

Currently Michele has art available at the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center in Clifton Forge, VA., through the year and 3 images in the For the Love of Trees: A Fusion of Art and Poetry” exhibit at the Wayne Theatre Gallery in Waynesboro, VA., through November 2022.
