Foggy Morning”, “Autumn Morning” and “Autumn Gold” in Invitational 5-artist exhibition of “For the Love of Trees; A Fusion of Art and Poetry” at Wayne Theatre, Waynesboro, VA by Liz Moss, curator. The show is not be a literal translation of trees, but an artistic and emotional one of how trees impact us and bring forth our creativity as artists.

Judge, Ed Gallucci of Roanoke, VA. Gallucci is a professional photographer with 48 years of experience. His portraits of musicians and celebrities have been published in Crawdaddy, Rolling Stone, Playboy, Penthouse; his editorial photographs have appeared in Business Week, Fortune, US News & World Report, Discover, New York Magazine, Psychology Today and Science magazines, as well as on more than 40 covers of Newsweek. He is the photographic author of “Hard Corps” collaborating with author Michael Grumley. Gallucci has won over 100 advertising industry awards, including five Andys and two Clios. Thousands of his images have appeared on print ads, billboards, book covers, annual reports, catalogs, and brochures. His works, among them a portrait of Bruce Springsteen, are in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art permanent photography collection in Kansas City, Missouri.

Five photos published in the glossy Spring 2017 issue of Shenandoah at War magazine, the Magazine of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District.   In an article titled History Brought to Life, Filming at Third Winchester on Pages 42-43. The photos were among those documenting the filming last September 2016 of historically correct civil war reenactment filming for two purposes: s short film on the 1864 Shenandoah campaign and a museum orientation film on the Third Battle of Winchester.

For my “photographic Body of work” displayed at the 24th Art on the Green Show at Hopkins Green, Lexington, VA on April 29, 2017, I received First place for Photography. Judge: Trudi C. Van Dyke, international independent curator and fine arts consultant and former director of the Torpedo Factory Arts Center, Alexandria, VA.

2015

 

“Woodland Bouquet” Juried into the 2015 national art show at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC). Show June 2015. Judges/Jurors: Ron Boehmer, one of Virginia’s most noteworthy landscape artists, has served as judge/juror, consultant and instructor for various cultural and educational organizations and institutions. He is co-founder of Beverley Street School Studio in Staunton, VA. Ron earned his M.F.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Associate Professor Nan Covert, Chair of the Art Department at Bridgewater College, teaches painting, drawing and art history while continuing to create her own artistic works. Nan’s M.F.A. in painting is from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Professor Richard Pumphrey teaches design and sculpture at Lynchburg College. He is the author of Elements of Art, a design text for college students. Recently he was commissioned by the National D-Day Memorial to sculpt busts of the seven allied leaders of WWII. Richard earned his M.F.A. in sculpture from the University of Georgia.
